About Us

Our Farm

Summit Roots Farm, founded in 2013, is a small family farm located at 7100 feet, 5 miles Southeast of Dolores Colorado.

Our Practices:
  • We use bio-intensive methods to build soil and maximize yields
  • We NEVER use chemicals
  • We use organic fertilizers, compost, compost teas and cover crops to feed our soil
  • We use crop rotation and focus on soil health to keep pests in check
  • We utilize season extension techniques to maximize our growing season

The Farmers

Jordan and Emily both grew up on the Front Range. They met in 2006 at CSU in Fort Collins and in 2010 decided to join forces and start a family. In 2012, looking for a change and new opportunity, they decided to relocate to Southwest Colorado. With a strong passion for local food and self-reliance they started Summit Roots Farm in 2013.

Guiding principles:

  • Healthy soil grows healthy food
  • People need to be connected to their food
  • Resilient Communities are built when we invest in each other

During the season, you will find Jordan in the garden philosophizing with the crew and at the Durango Farmers Market on Saturdays. Emily spends the school year teaching and is at the Cortez Farmers Market on Saturdays during the farming season.
